This course is an examination of the history of Latin America, starting with the eve of European contact in the late fifteenth century through the present. This course will explore significant political, economic, social, and cultural developments in Latin America. Particular attention will be paid to colonialism, independence and revolutionary movements, neocolonialism, nation-building and nationalism, neoliberalism, and migration. Meets General Education requirement for History and Diversity.
